The Power of Simplicity
Simplify, Have Fun, Honor your Agreements
“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” Confucius.
Life can be simple or complicated. The more things we accumulate in our day, the more complicated life becomes. We are so busy as we run from one activity to another, trying frantically to do everything and then adding even more. Do, do, do so that we can have more and more. How can we enjoy life in this merry-go-round? First, we must do less. Do less so that we can enjoy more. Ask yourself, what is the most important? How much did I do today or how much do you smile today? How much I laughed today? How many people did I hug today? To experience the joy of life we need to simplify.
We bring peace to our lives when we simplify. We can do less to achieve more when we slow down and take the time to enjoy each activity as fully as possible. There are only so many hours in a day. We can make the most of every hour if we eliminate what is not necessary. Check your agenda at the beginning of each day and see what you can eliminate. What can wait? Leave space to have fun without having to run to try to achieve everything. Some things can wait until tomorrow or the next day. Speaking less gives time to listen more. The more we listen, the more we learn about others, about ourselves and about life.
To enjoy the benefits of simplicity, ask yourself these questions:
Where is my life more complicated? What can I eliminate today? Can I just concentrate on what is necessary today and let the rest unfold spontaneously?
Try to keep your life simple today by letting it flow. Respect all agreements you have made but save time and space to surprise and delight. Simplicity will open doors to new experiences when you allow unstructured time.
To establish this intention, use these statements to strengthen your focus and manifest the power of simplicity:
- Today I am going to simplify my life in all possible ways.
- I create balance when simplifying.
- When simplified I am at peace.
- I am willing to set aside unnecessary tasks.
- I am willing to let go of the negative thoughts and feelings that saturate my energy.
- I will open myself to the experience of simplicity moment by moment.
- I carry this focus with me today with love and gratitude.
May the power of simplicity bring peace and harmony to your world today and every day!
